Exciting discussions, an interesting guided tour through the site and a great dinner in the Ahrtal - Our second Industry Day, which took place on March 16, 2023 at the Radio Telescope in Effelsberg, was again a great success. Partner of the event this time was ACENT AG, which was on site with representatives and customers.

After the guided tour of the site of our radio telescope, Hans-Rainer Klöckner (MPIfR) gave an astronomical overview in his talk and told the interested audience why we work the way we do.

Jessica Koch (MPIfR) - transfer manager in the B3D project - explained how the Big Bang to Big Data (B3D) project brings together radio astronomy and data science to address big data and what role industry plays in this.

Dr. Peter-Christian Zinn (Industrial Analytics Lab) originally comes from radio astronomy and, as an entrepreneur, successfully transfers methods developed there to various problems in industry. Based on his own experiences as well as best practices, he showed that data-driven decision-making in a company should definitely take a look into the "universe". After all, the topic of Big Data and the challenges associated with it are of equal concern to commercial enterprises and radio astronomy.

Already during the tour there were lively discussions, which were continued between the presentations as well as at the following dinner in the Ahrtal.
